World Labyrinth Day - May 2, 2026

World Labyrinth Day 2026 took place on Saturday, May 2, 2026, with people worldwide participating in local, virtual, or individual walking meditations to promote peace and unity. The signature "Walk as One at 1" event occurred  at 1:00 p.m. local time, creating a rolling wave of peaceful energy across the globe. The annual event, organized by The Labyrinth Society, focuses on connecting people globally through "moving meditation for peace".  Participants are encouraged to walk a local labyrinth or a virtual one at 1:00 p.m. in their time zone.  Folks from KUUF gathered at Silverday Lutheran Church to observe the occasion.

April 26, 2026 - Our Blue Boat of Imagination

The choir demonstrated once again that everyone, every circle and every committee does social justice work at KUUF.  Here are some photos from special, choir-led musical service taking the KUUF congregation on a journey aboard “Our Blue Boat of Imagination” as we explored the splendor of our precious planet in acknowledgement to Earth Day & Month.

RESULTS
2026 Northwest Pacific Regional Conference
April 18, 2026

RESULTS is a movement of passionate, committed everyday people who use their voices to influence political decisions that will bring an end to poverty” and on Saturday, April 18th, 30-35 of its members from throughout the Pacific Northwest gathered in the KUUF sanctuary to celebrate “Hope” as described in Rebecca Solnit’s book, “Hope in the Dark”.  Yes, the cuts to U.S. Aid by the current Administration have been devastating.  But the people connected to RESULTS, including roughly 10 KUUF member attendees (most long-term volunteers) at this gathering, have been resilient and that resilience is evidenced in at least the partial restoration of the eliminated funding.

The program featured a Q&A with James Bray, Field Representative for Congresswoman Emily Randall; a Keynote Address from Colin Smith, RESULTS Director of Global Policy; a Housing Choice Vouchers Panel moderated by Diana Tyree-Eddy; an address on hope by Chasity Malatesta; and singing throughout led by Carolyn Prouty and John Hornby.

March 28, 2026 - No Kings National Protest

“Hope locates itself in the premises that we don’t know what will happen and that in the
spaciousness of uncertainty is room to act. When you recognize uncertainty, you recognize
that you may be able to influence the outcomes—you alone or you in concert with a few
dozen or several million others. Hope is an embrace of the unknown and the unknowable,
an alternative to the certainty of both optimists and pessimists… It’s the belief that what
we do matters even though how and when it may matter, who and what it may impact, are
not things we can know beforehand. We may not, in fact, know them afterward either, but
they matter all the same.”

March 27, 2026 St. Michael Hospital Protest

Amplifying Voices Against the Closing of the St. Michael Pediatric Rehabilitation Clinic

It is out of concern regarding the health and future of roughly
200 - 250 children living in or near Kitsap County that KUUF’s
Social Justice Committee joins in solidarity with their families
in opposing the closure of the St. Michael Pediatric Rehabilitation
Clinic. Their lives are hard enough without having to travel long
distances for or give up entirely these critical services. The
photos in this section are from the protest at corner of Myhre and
Ridgetop Blvd and they tell the story.

Here is press coverage from King 5, the Kitsap Daily News, Fox 13,

March 22, 2026 - Good Trouble Sign Making & Singing Practice

An event at KUUF sponsored by its Social Justice Committee

Immediately following Rev. Jenny Zappala’s sermon titled “Bread and
Roses: Lessons in Love” at KUUF about the Strike of 1912 in Lawrence,
Massachusetts, about 30 KUUFers gathered to make signs and practice
singing protest songs in preparation for the March 28th No Kings National
Protest.

The event started with Brian Watson, accompanied by Mary Stroh on the
guitar, leading the group in singing four protest standards: ” This Land is
Your Land”, “If I Had a Hammer”, “Down by the Riverside”, and “We
Shall Overcome”. Later, Marty Bishop led the group in singing “Hold On”
which is a song that became a regular at the Minnesota ICE protests.

Some of the signs produced by the group are featured below.

Representatives Simmons & Nance.

An event sponsored by Faith Action Network & Backed by
JUUstice Washington

An estimated 250 people from across faiths and the state travelled to
Olympia to encourage their legislators to pass a “moral” budget
and enact legislation from the
Faith Action Legislative Agenda.
Three takeaways (paraphrased) stemmed from words spoken
at the opening session held at in the sanctuary of Temple Beth
Hatfiloh:

"Our super power is that we are people of faith.”

“If there is such a thing as a “moral” budget then there is an “immoral”
budget too.”

“We have to use “the words” when speaking to legislators. Simple,
plain spoken words. Our children are not economically insecure.
They are hungry.”

The official program begins with music in the sanctuary of Temple Beth Hatfiloh in Olympia. Dr. Joyce del Rosario (above right), Executive Director of the Faith Action Network (FAN) spoke to the attendees and led a panel discussion regarding some of the bills in FAN’s Legislative Agenda.

270 advocates from across the state registered. The estimated number of those actually attending was put at 250+. Judy Arbogast & Mark Stroh from KUUF were there along with the Rev. Nancy Reid-McKee from JUUstice Washington who opened the session and 6 members of Cedars UU Fellowship on Bainbridge Island. 3 people from a Bethany Lutheran Church on Bainbridge and 1 person from an Episcople Church on Bainbridge.
